What is the Belt and Road Initiative?

The BRI is a global initiative but it's essentially building on the historic Silk Road, putting a major focus on countries in Asia, Eastern Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, a region mainly composed of emerging markets.

China’s President Xi Jinping unveiled The Initiative in 2013, and it is often referred to as one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever conceived. It is a vast collection of development and investment initiatives would stretch from East Asia to Europe, significantly expanding China’s economic and political influence.
